• Whether it was my namesake or something in my bones

I am a poet through and through

    Constantly musing, often brooding

    Art

My parents named me Astrid after my great, great, great, great, great, great, aunt Astrid Ingerson —the prolific poet. Her fame never really made it past the borders of Sweden.

Every year, on the day of her birth, students of her work gather to celebrate.

The poems that move through me are connected to her.

  • The Veneration of Astrid Ingerson is an annual celebration held on the day of my great, great, great, great, great, great, great aunt’s birth. Each year her students gather to recite her most mysterious poem. This group recitation initiates the year’s celebration.

On August 19th 2022 Ingerson initiated a new group of students at Storage Space Gallery in Indianapolis by teaching them the words of The Veneration. The poem is recited in three parts. In Swedish, The English Translation, and The Articles.

My favorite time of a tree

Zero tolerance for the next few weeks of the year

I do not think I can see you soon enough

    —Stopping for Gas in Defiance

Astrid Ingerson is a one hit wonder. Stopping for Gas in Defiance, written with predictive text and old tweets, was arranged by an old friend. Since then Ingerson has centered her musical pursuits around covers that can be found on her YouTube channel and SoundCloud.
